2014 World Cup Preview: Mexico

Mexico is up next in Group A!

Result in 2010: 14th place. Lost to Argentina 1 – 2 in the Round of 16.

A brief history: Mexico has been unable to move past the Round of 16 in the last five World Cups. They have made it to the quarterfinals in the past, last doing so in 1986.

Notable Former Players: Jorge Campos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Hugo Sánchez

Current Stars: Javier Chicharito Hernandez, Oribe Peralta, Giovanni dos Santos

Coach: Miguel Herrera

Group Stage Matches:

June 13 at 11:00 am EST

Mexico vs. Cameroon

June 17 at 2:00 pm EST

Mexico vs. Brazil

June 23 at 3:00 pm EST

Mexico vs. Croatia

An Uninformed Prediction: Mexico has a good chance to make it out of the group stage. Making it past the Round of 16 depends on who they are matched up with. If Mexico finishes as the runner-up in Group A, they will face off against the winner of Group B, which most likely will be either Spain or the Netherlands. So, it will be tough.
